Once again, Le Lab Femmes de Cinéma publishes the updated report on measures for parity in the European audiovisual industry.
The study was carried out by Eléna Laquatra (Révélations Culturelles association), under the direction of Fabienne Silvestre (Lab Femmes de Cinéma) and Guillaume Calop (Les Arcs Film Festival). It is the result of a European collaboration in all aspects: the European Audiovisual Observatory provides the statistics, and the European Film Agencies contact the film institutes of the different countries (36 this time). The report serves both as a tool to influence and monitor progress year after year and as a compendium of good practices.
Trends already present in the 2024 study continue, and new ones appear, such as the extension of parity to committees that set cultural policies, reflection on public policies to adapt them to the future, and new trends are emerging that may mark how to improve equality in the coming years. Some countries have already implemented measures on the impact of biases, mental health, AI as an analysis tool, and policies towards expanding the sector to a more diverse and sustainable landscape, towards a sector that can be a social example with impact.
